George Orwell’s Animal Farm is a timeless tale about revolution, power, and the gradual erosion of ideals. In the story, the animals of a farm rise up against their human owner to create a society based on equality. But over time, the pigs who led the movement became indistinguishable from the tyrants they overthrew. Orwell’s tale serves as a chilling reminder of how easily power can corrupt and how those in charge often manipulate truth and the rules of the game to maintain control.
The book offers insights into the dangers of concentrated power and governance by decree, which could resonate with Bitcoiners. Bitcoin represents a system built on transparent, predictable rules, unlike other systems where the rules can be changed at the whims of rulers to serve their own interests. Like in our current financial system, the cantillionnaires (those closest to the supply of money) can benefit over others. Meanwhile, with Bitcoin, new supply is distributed, and those with more Bitcoin have no more power over the system than someone with just a few satoshis in their wallet. Animal Farm reminds us that true freedom depends not just on good intentions, but on structures that prevent any one group from seizing control and rewriting the rules unchecked. Bitcoin is the first time we've had a system of rules without rulers, and it will fundamentally change our civilisation forever!
